Mother's Day Recipes

Japanese people celebrate Mother's Day on the second Sunday in May. Mother's Day is called "haha no hi" in Japanese. It's common to give flowers and gifts to mothers on this day.

We tend to remember and inherit the taste of dishes, which our mothers cooked for us. It's called "ofukuro-no-aji" in Japanese. For Americans, they could be mashed potatoes, meat loaf, and so on. What dishes are considered as ofukuro-no-aji in Japan? They are usually found in everyday cooking, such as nimono (simmered vegetables) and miso soup.
