Since we bought a home printing software program, my daughter and I have been on a creative streak. She made placemats and placecards for Easter dinner, and now we are anxious to start on a new project. Several ideas for fun Mother's Day gifts come to mind just browsing the hundreds of choices the program offers. You will probably need to help your child with many of these computer projects and crafts, so why not work together to make grandmother something special this year! A family recipe book, photo collage, keepsake box, address labels, and notecards are a few of the creative ideas I've seen lately.
If you would like to start creating home printing projects, you will need:
- print project software
- specialty paper supplies
- a color printer
Print Shop Deluxe is the latest in the best-selling series of home printing software from Broderbund. Other software options include Printmaster, also from Broderbund, and Corel's Print House
Avery is the primary source for the special papers (greeting and note cards, envelopes, labels, postcards) you will want for your projects. Your software program will guide you to the Avery product number you will need. You can order online, by phone, or get the nearest local supplier from the Avery Web site.
HP, Epson, Kodak, and Canon have excellent print project papers of various kinds also. To find more specialty papers on the Web, check out these sites.
Color ink-jet printers are everywhere and the prices are excellent. I am using a Lexmarkthat I bought at a discount store for $60. I was surprised to find that it works just great. Hewlett-Packard, Canon, and Epson are can't miss choices.
The cool thing about the companies mentioned in this article are their Web sites which are packed with project ideas. Check out these pages for lots of inspiration.
